The Science of Ultherapy®
Sound waves cause the tissues they interact with to vibrate. Some of the sound energy is absorbed by tissues, and the body responds by sending nutrients to strengthen the affected area. During the Treatment
Before we suggest Ultherapy® as a treatment, we consult with the client and look closely at the areas of concern. We note the thickness of the skin and how loose it is, check to see how much fatty tissue has built up beneath the skin, and determine whether wrinkles are being formed because of skin damage or poor structural support. If we decide that Ultherapy® can help, we will outline the procedure and schedule a treatment appointment.
The instrument used in Ultherapy® is a handheld device that is pressed directly against the skin surface. Topical numbing agents aren't required because the sound waves don't cause any pain. With each burst of sound energy, the client will feel nothing more than a buzzing sensation.
A typical treatment session takes between 60 and 90 minutes. When treating the upper neck and chin, we are careful to calibrate the device to deliver just enough energy to stimulate the tissues of the skin's foundational layer without affecting the surrounding areas.
After Treatment
Some of our clients notice an immediate improvement in skin firmness. However, the rejuvenation process continues for several months afterward as collagen production peaks. A single treatment is usually all that is needed to achieve the desired results.
This is an outpatient procedure performed right in our office. The client can resume normal activities without delay, and there is no special care regimen required. Simple at-home cleaning of the skin is all the client needs to perform.
