PDO Thread Lift in West Palm Beach, FL
The new, non–invasive, non–surgical facelift is now available at Supriya Dermatology. A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical facelift which uses an absorbable suture made of Polydioxanone (PDO). PDO threads are used to create lift and volume in areas of the face and body that have begun to sag due to aging. PDO threads have been used as sutures in procedures such as open-heart surgery for years, making them very safe to use in skin.
Benefits of a PDO Thread Lift
Patients can get the results of a facelift with less invasiveness along with additional benefits such as:
- Little risk of adverse reaction
- Little downtime
- Treats several areas of the face and body
- May be repeated as necessary
- Excellent alternative to a facelift
- Results that can last 12-18 months
There are several types of threads used to accomplish the procedure. They include:
- Smooth threads for superficial wrinkles and lines
- Volumizing threads for defining lip borders and diminishing deep wrinkles or folds, such as smile lines
- Lift threads that contain small barbs to lift the skin up and returns it to its original natural position
Who is an ideal candidate for a PDO Thread Lift?
Whether it’s the first time you realized you’ve aged after looking in the mirror or if you have been getting aesthetic treatments for years and wish to continue, almost everyone with any amount of sagging is a candidate for a PDO thread lift at Supriya Dermatology.
This procedure allows you to add volume to your skin and simulate the results of a facelift to create a smoother look. For patients who have maintained their youth with other aesthetic treatments such as lasers and injectables, a PDO thread lift will give you an additional lift that has previously only been achievable through surgical lifts.
How is it performed?
Most patients are reclining or lying down, depending on the area being treated. The treatment typically takes about an hour to complete. When getting a PDO thread lift, Dr. Tomar will make a small opening through which needles with threads are inserted. The needle is then removed, and the thread is left in place to lift the skin.
These threads are barbed or have cogs that lift the skin. When the threads are inserted, they cause the body to produce inflammation, which then signals the body to boost collagen production. This is how the targeted areas increase facial volume as well as volume on other parts of the body.
Is there downtime?
There is some downtime with PDO thread lift treatments. It all depends on which areas are being treated. Most patients will experience some swellings and bruising that can last 5-7 days. Most patients return to work immediately following their treatments while others may want to stay at home for a few days. Possible bruising and swelling may occur.
How many treatments will I need?
Dr. Tomar will assess your concerns and goals during your consultation to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to achieve your results. Results are not permanent, and treatment can be repeated as desired.
How long will my results last?
Your lift should be expected to last between 6—12 months, depending on the individual patient and the amount of laxity being treated.
When will I see results?
Results are immediately noticeable to you and continue to increase over the next few months as the body fully absorbs the threads. Results with each patient may vary.
Is a PDO thread lift covered by insurance?
Most insurance carriers do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic and aesthetic procedures.
